John Cale is 82, but he's not thinking about that himself. So let's talk about the music, because Poptical Illusion is his second rock-solid album in two years. It all sounds a bit lighter than MERCY - it even sometimes feels a bit think of an electronic Paris 1919 - but make no mistake: Cale is seething. The Welshman's lyrics are fiercely opposed to capitalism and political deceit. CD / LP
